That's a Wrap

It's time to share some pretty big news with you.

Effective today, I will be ceasing publication of The Cheerful Closet.

After over four years of blogging, this isn't a decision I made quickly or lightly. But more and more over the past several months, I have found that blogging feels more like a burden than a joy.

In college, the blog was a really important creative outlet for me and a fun way to de-stress. But since graduation, it felt like an extra job to come home to after my real job. I sacrificed sleep, time with loved ones, and other creative pursuits in order to make my blog successful, and it doesn't feel healthy or fun anymore.

What this really boils down to is that my life is really good right now. I have made a bunch of new friends and gotten involved in some activities that are really fulfilling. I think I'm the happiest I've ever been, so I want to spend my time LIVING this life I love instead of sitting at home in front of a screen trying to make my blog successful.

However, shutting down my blog does NOT mean I'm leaving the Internet forever! If you'd like to follow along with my post-blogging adventures, feel free to follow me on my personal Instagram account at @welshy6. This feed will not be curated or monetized; it consists mostly of food I cook, people I love, and of course, TONS of photos of Rosie. You can also email me anytime at alexwelch71@gmail.com. I hope you stay in touch!

Finally, THANK YOU for being on this journey with me. The communities I've joined and built have been the best part of blogging by a mile. This blog was so much fun and I will always look back fondly on this season of life, but it's time for this chapter to come to a close so I can start a new one.

Much love,

Alex
