Something New: Leather Jacket

It's been a while since the last post in the Something New series. I bet ya thought I gave up on it, eh? Not so! Today, my "something new" is a leather jacket.

You may remember that I dipped my toe into the world of leather jackets about a year ago, when I found an uber-cheap black leather jacket online. I wore it once on the blog, but ended up not really liking the jacket, so I gave it to my sister (who now rocks it all the time!) I thought that was the end of my foray into leather endeavors, but I still continued to admire how Audrey at Putting Me Together (one of my favorite bloggers) styles her cognac jacket in a way that really appeals to my personal sense of style.

SO, when my sister told me that, although she loves the black leather jacket I gave her, she almost never wore her cognac one, I sweet talked her into letting me borrow it to see if a different color and cut of leather jacket would work for me! That way, there's no financial investment but I can try my hand at styling this new jacket.

All this only happened two weeks ago, but I can solidly say: so far, so good! I have worn this baby a few times and I like it much more than the black one. I have been trying to mix up my outerwear since I like my denim jacket & cardigans so much, and this has been a really fun addition that I can style in similar ways to those pieces while still looking fresh and new.

Here, I styled my jacket with a lace top. Audrey does this all the time, and I love how it juxtaposes masculine and feminine elements. I finished off the look with an olive skirt, purple jewelry, and booties! (Also, shoutout to this bag. I have a major bag crush on it, as mentioned on Instagram earlier this week.)
